Dedrick Lawson (Kansas) picked up his third Big 12 Player of the Week honor while Miles Reynolds (Oklahoma) and Curtis Jones (Oklahoma State) shared their first newcomer award. Lawson has been honored five out of seven weeks this season with three newcomer of the week designations.
Lawson posted back-to-back double-doubles with 16 points and 14 rebounds in a home win against South Dakota and a season-high 30 points with 14 rebounds at No. 18 Arizona State. He has four double-doubles in his last four games and a Big 12-leading eight for the season.
Reynolds averaged 12.0 points with 4.5 boards and 3.0 assists in Oklahoma’s 2-0 week that gave the Sooners their seventh straight win and improved their record to a Big 12-leading 11-1. Both wins came over major-conference foes in Creighton and Northwestern.
In his first home game as a Cowboy, Jones dazzled the crowd with a career-high 23 points on 6-of-14 shooting and six rebounds. The Indiana transfer became eligible last week, and went 5-of-10 from the 3-point line against Central Arkansas, which tied for the most 3-pointers by an OSU player this season.
